Menos mediático que Giugliani, Ron Paul es lo más parecido a un libertariano con opciones de gobierno de una superpotencia. He buceado un poco en su página web (http://www.ronpaul2008.com/) y me encuentro con alguna perla:

¡Qué grande! Es decir, estas cosas sobre las que debaten filósofos, analistas políticos y contertulios wanabee en foros como el Instituto Cato, el Juan de Mariana o liberalismo.org, las dice un posible candidato a la presidencia americana.
The neo-cons claim surrender should not be an option. In the same breath they claim we were attacked because of our freedoms. Why then, are they so anxious to surrender our freedoms with legislation like the Patriot Act, a repeal of our 4th amendment rights, executive orders, and presidential signing statements? With politicians like these, who needs terrorists? Do they think if we destroy our freedoms for the terrorists they will no longer have a reason to attack us? This seems the epitome of cowardice coming from those who claim a monopoly on patriotic courage.
Ron Paul está a favor del repliegue en Irak e incluso no duda en criticar la política neoconservadora del actual presidente. Según dice la Wikipedia en un artículo con faltas de ortografía y repleto de americanismos, Ron Paul nunca votó a favor de una subida de impuestos. Nunca.
Yo tampoco.

He visto varios vídeos suyos por Internet. Es una gozada. Como bien decías, este hombre habla de términos que son más propios de un think tank o de cualquier tipo de ensayo de filosofía económica o política, pero desde una sencillez y claridad envidiables.
Ayer mismo vi una imagen (que espero poder conseguir y colgaré, consecuentemente) que me resultó graciosa, porque su título era: "Who is this man and why he wants to save our country?".
Yo también le votaría. Para mi gusto, le sacó varias vueltas al resto de candidatos republicanos en el último debate que mantuvieron todos juntos. Aunque... para gustos los colores, o eso dicen, ¿no?
